5 Tips I Learned at Work Party Event with Summer Fridays
Yesterday was one of the most incredible nights of my life after graduating. I was in a place of confusion, fear of the unknown and honestly, desperation for direction. Not knowing what to expect at the Work Party event, I went with a good feeling that I would find what I was looking for. I did not find the answers to all my questions but hearing the story of Summer Fridays and how passionate Lauren Gores and queen of blogging, Marianna Hewitt I was inspired to start getting my foot in any door!
Tip #1: Send professional emails. During the meet and greet portion, Marianna said professional emails will go a long way. She shared a friend of hers received an email that started with "Hey babe!" and was suggesting that it was not the best way if you're looking for a job or connecting with someone new.
Tip #2: Don't be afraid to introduce yourself. I had 3 or 4 people come up to me and introduce themselves with "I love your outfit!" or "So, what do you guys do?" and I realized how scary it can be for people (including myself) to put myself out there when really, saying hello is the first step in the right direction.
Tip #3: Iterations aren't permanent. If you are a blogger, YouTuber, influencer, and you put something on the internet for the world to see, "it's not a book so you can always delete it" - Marianna Hewitt. It's okay to change your mind or "rebrand." Getting inspired by new photos, moods, visions should not work against you, but for you!
Tip #4: Be patient. Lauren and Marianna said it took them 2 years to create one product. As a new brand, they did not create a full collection of products but selected one that they believed everyone can use. It takes time to create something beautiful and let it mature. Therefore, if it is your blog, YouTube channel, Instagram or business, be patient with results but stay consistent with it.
Tip #5: Search for events near you. I never thought I would have the opportunity in any lifetime to meet two of my role models. For Lauren and Marianna, they aspired to be Oprah. For me, it is to be them! Their journeys have inspired my career path from social media marketing to being the kind of business woman that they are. All this to say, search for events through Instagram near you! Create Cultivate is a great resource but Facebook may be your best friend. Find groups or events near you that you can visit!
